Diversity is a Discipline

Our objective is to engage students and staff in a didactic process of increasing their awareness of the deep and rich diversity of all types, which is the cornerstone of the American character (and your institution). To that end we offer these tools to enhance and deepen this process.

WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOP I: (45 minutes)
This keynote lecture illustrates the shifting face of America. Using current data we show the growing need and necessity to engage difference not just for the sake of understanding cultures beyond your own, but to see diversity as an emerging philosophy which will help individuals deal with the very nature of change itself. Like many other disciplines there are fundamental principles, which govern it. Our lectures accentuate many of these core principles.

  • History
  • Environment
  • Intersectionality
  • Micro-literacies
  • Micro-cultures
  • Tools of Engagement

All of these principles come together in an entertaining and engaging presentation, which will help participants see how having a greater sense of diversity can turn perceived obstacles into opportunities to engage an emerging world.

Lectures are followed up with questions and answer period if appropriate.
